January 2021 Project Update
Thank you for all the great feedback last fall on transportation improvement ideas in King City!
Using the feedback we received last year (read the Fall 2020 Outreach Summary here!), we will create an initial list of projects for the King City TSP. This spring we'll ask for feedback from the community on this list of projects.
Help us shape King City’s first Transportation System Plan.
Even amid COVID-19, this project will offer healthy, yet engaging opportunities for community input.
Until now, King City did not own most of its major roads. Most have been managed by other jurisdictions, such as ODOT. This worked fine for a while, but the needs of our City are growing and changing. Our population has more than doubled in the last 20 years, approaching 5,000. It could double again in another 20 years.
King City is planning for gradual growth west to Roy Rogers Road, which will add to city-owned roads. Just as we are planning land use, we must also plan for how everyone will get around. The city’s first-ever Transportation System Plan (TSP) will include a framework for a safe, well-connected transportation system including policies, standards, network maps, a capital projects list, and more.
We need your help finding the best ways to serve people walking, biking, using transit, and driving.
Anticipated Project Timeline
This effort is anticipated to take 18 months and will conclude in late summer 2021.
Project Information
The City of King City will be performing pavement rehabilitation of certain streets within the City.
During construction, it will be necessary to close the street partially or completely to vehicular traffic during construction work hours due to safety concerns. No street closure is expected to last more than 12 hours at a time. Street parking will also be restricted. "No Parking" signs will be posted along the street 3 days in advance and will be enforced by the Police Department.

To improve city streets' quality and service life, King City has adopted a right-of-way preservation and restoration policy (Moratorium.) This policy is designed to protect newly paved streets by limiting pavement cuts and imposing specific restoration requirements. It will also encourage better coordination with utility agencies and other users of the city rights-of-way by requiring those users to provide notice of upcoming projects requiring cutting the pavement. The policy's full text is in Chapter 12.08.095 of the King City Municipal Code, and locations are shown on this map.
